Milt was called the Judge by hundreds of great jazz musicians that he played with since the 30s. In the early years he worked with Body Atkins, Erskine Tate, Zutty Singleton and Eddie South. In 1936 he joined Cab Calloway' s band.

He recorded with Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby, Branford Marsalis, Lionel Hampton, Jimmy Rushing and many others. He was also a famous photographer, whose images were featured in the film "A Great Day in Harlem."
